Fubara lnsists Politics Won’t Distract Rivers Development Drive

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has reiterated his determination to stay focused on executing development initiatives across the state despite prevailing political challenges.

The governor stressed that distractions arising from politics would not weaken his administration’s dedication to service delivery, insisting that the welfare of the people remains his top priority.

Fubara made this known on Wednesday, the 4th of February, 2026, during an inspection tour of key road rehabilitation projects in the old Port Harcourt Township, including the ongoing works at the Creek Road Market axis.

During the visit, he assured residents of his unwavering commitment to governance, stating:
“I have promised our people that no matter the situation, we will not lose focus on governance.

“They entrusted us with leadership, and the least we owe them is confidence, stability, and the assurance that governance will continue strongly,” he said.

The governor inspected several completed and ongoing road projects, assessing rehabilitated streets around Moore House before rounding off the tour at the Creek Road Market.

Commenting on the market redevelopment project, Fubara described it as a critical component of efforts to rejuvenate the old Port Harcourt Township. He explained that upgrading the market would not only restore its former prominence but also enhance commercial activities and improve the livelihoods of traders in the area.
