Fubara Reaffirms Commitment To Transparency

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency and its “Rivers First” agenda, describing the principle as the foundation of governance in the state since he assumed office three years ago.

In a message commemorating the third anniversary of his administration, the governor said his government has consistently placed the welfare and interests of Rivers residents at the centre of its policies and programmes.

The message was conveyed in a statement released on Friday in Port Harcourt by his Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi.

Reflecting on achievements recorded over the past 36 months, Fubara said major investments in road infrastructure were aimed at improving connectivity between rural and urban communities while creating avenues for economic growth.

According to him, the goal of positioning Rivers State as a major investment destination inspired several flagship projects, including the Port Harcourt Ring Road, the Trans-Kalabari Highway, the Elele/Umudioga/Egbeda/Ubimini/Ikiri/Omoku Road, and the Ngo-Atlantic/Oyorokoto Road.

The governor also pointed to efforts made in strengthening the education and healthcare sectors, alongside initiatives focused on maintaining peace and security across the state.

Fubara expressed appreciation to the people of Rivers State for their confidence in his leadership and assured them that government resources would continue to be managed for the benefit of the public.

“What we have achieved in three years is proof that when government and citizens pull in the same direction, progress is possible.

As we mark this anniversary, I renew my commitment to you: to lead with transparency, listen more than I speak, and ensure that every project, every policy, and every naira spent reflects your interest,” he stated.

While acknowledging that significant tasks still lie ahead, the governor called on various segments of society, including elders, youths, women, traders, teachers, farmers, artisans, and professionals, to contribute to the continued development of the state.

He further extended congratulations to Rivers residents and Nigerians on the country’s 27th year of uninterrupted democratic rule, describing the milestone as the longest period of civil governance since independence.

Fubara said the achievement reflects Nigeria’s capacity to accommodate differing views while continuing to make progress as a nation.
