Governor of Siminalayi Fubara has assured residents of Rivers State that all ongoing infrastructure projects under his administration will be completed despite the political challenges rocking the state.
The governor gave the assurance on Friday during an inspection of the ongoing Airport Road Bypass project in Port Harcourt, insisting that his administration remains committed to governance and development.
Speaking during the inspection, Fubara said the project had already attained about 65 per cent completion and reaffirmed his resolve to see it through to the end.
According to a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, the governor said no political distraction would derail his administration from delivering projects that would benefit Rivers people.
“I want to assure our people that notwithstanding the situation of things, every good project we have started will continue and will be completed by the grace of God. Our focus remains Rivers State first,” Fubara stated.
The governor explained that the Airport Road Bypass was initiated to serve as an alternative route to the Port Harcourt International Airport whenever protests or disputes in host communities block the major airport road.
He noted that repeated disruptions along the main route had negatively affected economic activities and movement within the state.

“We have experienced situations where communities, out of anger or dissatisfaction with airport authorities, block the airport road. In today’s society, such actions should not cripple economic activities. That was why we engaged the communities and created this bypass,” he explained.
Fubara, who was conducted round the project site by contractors handling the road construction, expressed satisfaction with the speed and quality of work, adding that the project is expected to be completed before October 2026.
The governor’s comments come amid the lingering political crisis in Rivers State involving his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, which has continued to shape the political landscape ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The development also follows the emergence of Kingsley Chinda as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 Rivers governorship race after other aspirants reportedly stepped down during the party’s primary election.
