Governor Siminalayi Fubara has appealed to residents of Rivers State, particularly registered voters in Ahoada East and Khana Local Government Areas, to turn out en masse for the by-election slated for Saturday, the 21st of February, 2026.
The governor made the appeal during remarks at the Government House in Port Harcourt, on Friday, the 20th of February, 2026, where he characterised the poll as a collective exercise among stakeholders within the state.
He urged voters to rally behind candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) contesting the two vacant seats in the Rivers State House of Assembly.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, Fubara emphasised the need for calm and strict adherence to the law before, during, and after the election.
“Everybody should be law-abiding and avoid doing anything that will disturb the peace during the exercise.
“It is actually a family election, and there is no need for rancour and acrimony,” he said.
The by-election will fill the open seats representing Ahoada East State Constituency II and Khana State Constituency II in the Rivers State House of Assembly.
