Genocide Claim: Nigerian Govt Lacks Empathy, Says Ex-Envoy

International political analyst and former Nigerian diplomat, Joe Keshi, has sharply criticized the Federal Government’s approach to the ongoing discussion surrounding Christian persecution, claiming it demonstrates “lack of empathy” and “poor communication.”

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday, the 12th of November 2025, Keshi argued that the government’s official response, particularly the statements issued by some of its spokespersons, has exacerbated public skepticism and damaged Nigeria’s reputation on the global stage.

He focused his condemnation on the perceived silence and lack of direction from the nation’s leadership during a period of crisis, stating: “In a crisis period like this, the first constituency the president should speak to is the Nigerian people.”
