Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has expressed condolences to the people of Esa-Oke following the death of the Owamiran of Esa-Oke, Oba Adeyemi Akanbi Adediran.
The governor’s message was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, in Osogbo.
According to the statement, the revered monarch reportedly passed away in the early hours of Wednesday.
Adeleke described the late traditional ruler as a respected royal father whose reign was characterised by wisdom, humility, and unwavering commitment to the development and unity of Esa-Oke and the wider Ijesa community.
“I received the news of the transition of the Owamiran of Esa-Oke, Oba Adeyemi Akanbi Adediran, with a heavy heart.
Osun State has lost a distinguished monarch and a father figure who devoted his life to the service of his people and the preservation of our cherished cultural values,” the governor said.

“The late Owamiran leaves behind a legacy of honour, integrity, and selfless leadership. His contributions to community development and the strengthening of traditional institutions will remain evergreen in our hearts,” Adeleke added.
The governor condoled with the royal family, the people of Esa-Oke, the Obokun Traditional Council, and the entire Ijesa community over the monarch’s passing.
He also prayed for the repose of the late king’s soul and for strength for the people of the town to bear the loss.
Reports of concern over the monarch’s health had earlier emerged in the community after sources close to the palace disclosed that Oba Adediran had been ill in recent days.
Residents reportedly became more anxious after the monarch failed to appear in public for some time, while the Ogboni of Esa-Oke, Chief Paul Olamiju, announced a dusk-to-dawn curfew in the community on Wednesday afternoon.
