A viral video circulating on social media has captured Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, expressing dissatisfaction with the pace and sequencing of work on a hospital project in the state, sparking widespread online reactions.
The footage, shared on Wednesday by Uche Nworah, a former Special Adviser on General Duties to the Director-General of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, shows the governor confronting a contractor during an on-site inspection of the project.
In the video, Governor Eno questioned the contractor’s decision to begin construction with a mortuary rather than prioritising essential healthcare facilities such as wards and treatment units.
“I said build a hospital and you started with a mortuary. Don’t say that again,” the governor was heard saying, his remarks reflecting visible frustration.
The governor’s comments appear to underscore concerns about project planning and execution, particularly in the health sector where timely delivery of functional facilities is critical to public welfare.

Since its emergence, the video has attracted significant attention on social media, with users offering mixed reactions. While some praised the governor for demanding accountability and proper prioritisation, others debated whether the exchange should have been handled privately.
As of the time of reporting, the Akwa Ibom State Government has not issued an official statement clarifying the status of the hospital project or responding to the public reactions generated by the video.
The incident has once again highlighted growing public scrutiny of government infrastructure projects and the expectations placed on contractors to align execution with clearly defined public needs.
