Gunmen Kidnap Ex-Minister Bayo Adelabu’s Sister, Twin Children In Ibadan

The sister of former Minister of Power and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and her twin children have reportedly been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The abduction was said to have occurred on Wednesday morning in the Challenge area of Ibadan South-West Local Government Area.

Confirming the incident, one of Adelabu’s media aides, Femi Awogboro, disclosed that the victims were attacked while travelling out of their residence.

“Adelabu’s younger sister, together with her twins, Peter and Paul, were kidnapped this morning by unknown gunmen at Elewura, Challenge, Ibadan,” Awogboro said.

According to him, the family members were on their way from Elewura to connect to the expressway when the assailants intercepted them and forcefully whisked them away to an unknown destination.

The latest incident has heightened concerns over the growing wave of kidnappings and insecurity in Oyo State, coming barely weeks after the abduction of more than 40 pupils and teachers from schools in Ahoro-Esiele, Oriire Local Government Area.

The state has also witnessed several high-profile abductions in recent months. In December 2025, APC chieftain Wale Oriade was kidnapped by armed men in Ibadan.

Oriade was reportedly abducted around 7:06 p.m. at his office located within PJ Square Shopping Complex, near a Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) filling station at Elewure, along Iyana Ajanla, Akala Expressway, New Garage, Ibadan.

Eyewitnesses had said the attackers arrived in a blue Nissan Micra vehicle and forcefully dragged him into the car before speeding away.

Security agencies have yet to officially confirm the latest abduction involving Adelabu’s sister and her children.

When contacted, the Oyo State Police Command spokesperson, CSP Adewale Osifeso, said the command was still verifying the report.

“I cannot independently verify this for now, but please hold on,” he stated.

As of the time of filing this report, there was no official information on the whereabouts of the victims or whether contact had been established with the kidnappers.
