Gunmen Kill Community Leader, Resident In Anambra

Chief Ikwuka Okoye, President‑General of Ogidi community in Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra State, was killed by gunmen on the evening of Friday, February 6, 2026, alongside another resident.

The attack occurred at Ogidi School Field, where armed assailants on motorcycles opened fire. Both victims were shot dead on the spot.

The Anambra State Police Command confirmed the killings on Saturday, February 7, stating that detectives have launched a full investigation and are working to apprehend the attackers.

Authorities noted the incident may be linked to the recent death of a notorious cultist in the community.

Residents expressed shock and fear, calling on security agencies to prevent further violence.
