Three police officers were killed in the early hours of Saturday, May 2, 2026, after suspected armed attackers stormed a Police Mobile Force (PMF) camp in Tenebo Village, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The Kwara State Police Command confirmed the attack, with Commissioner of Police Ojo Adekimi describing it as shocking and condemning it as a heinous act.
He said the assailants struck before dawn, killing three officers on duty and leaving several others critically injured.
Adekimi noted that the slain officers died in active service and assured that their sacrifice would not be forgotten.
He extended condolences to the families of the deceased and wished injured personnel a speedy recovery, assuring full support from the command.
Security agencies, he said, had launched a coordinated manhunt, deploying operational, intelligence and tactical resources to track down the attackers.
“There will be no hiding place for those responsible,” he said.

Residents fled the area during the attack as gunfire rang out.
In a separate operation, the police said six suspected kidnappers were arrested in Baruten Local Government Area following the abduction of Isaq J. in Boriya Village via Okuta on April 23, 2026.
The kidnappers had demanded ₦50 million ransom before sustained pressure led to the victim’s release and the arrest of suspects, including Mohammed Shede, who allegedly confessed to providing intelligence used in the operation.
Further arrests included Abubakar Aliu, identified as the gang’s armourer, alongside Abu Sonkpia, Saliu Yakubu and Sanni Sakariyau.
Police said the suspects also confessed to involvement in kidnapping and armed robbery, with firearms and mobile phones recovered.
Efforts, the commissioner added, were ongoing to apprehend fleeing gang members, including suspects known as “Smalley” and “Borugujo.”
