Popular Nigerian chef and entrepreneur Hilda Baci has reflected on her Guinness World Records journey after receiving a special recognition as a Guinness World Records Icon for 2027.
In an emotional video shared via her Instagram page on Thursday, Hilda opened up about the personal struggles she faced before publicly acknowledging the honour, admitting that she initially hesitated to share the recognition with her followers.
According to the celebrity chef, her reluctance stemmed from concerns that people might believe she was dwelling on her previous Guinness World Records achievement.
“I’ll be honest. When I received this recognition as a Guinness World Records Icon, I wasn’t sure how to share it. Not because I wasn’t grateful. Far from it,” she said.
Hilda explained that over the years she had wrestled with the fear of being defined by a single accomplishment, which made her delay unboxing the award and sharing her thoughts about it.
“But gratitude has a way of overcoming fear,” she added.
The culinary entrepreneur described the recognition as meaningful, not because of the title itself, but because of the journey, sacrifices, lessons, growth and support that shaped her path.
She expressed gratitude to God, her mother, family members, friends, business partners and supporters who stood by her throughout her career.

“His grace has carried me through every season of my life,” she said while thanking those who encouraged and celebrated her achievements.
Hilda also clarified that the recognition was not the result of a new world record but a special honour bestowed by Guinness World Records on individuals whose accomplishments and influence have inspired people globally.
“For those wondering, this isn’t a new world record. Guinness World Records Icon is a special recognition that celebrates individuals whose achievements and influence have left a lasting impact and inspired people around the world,” she explained.
The chef said she received the recognition with humility and gratitude, noting that the moment had taught her the importance of embracing the blessings and recognition that come from years of dedication and hard work.
