Hilda Baci Set to Attempt World’s Largest Pot of Jollof Rice

Nigerian chef Hilda Baci, who rose to global fame after breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon in 2023, is preparing another record-breaking attempt.

She is scheduled to cook the world’s largest pot of jollof rice on September 12, 2025, at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The project will feature a specially constructed pot measuring about six meters wide and six meters tall, designed to hold what could become the largest serving of the West African dish ever recorded.

The event is expected to attract large crowds and will be staged as a cultural festival, with music, food, and entertainment celebrating Nigerian heritage.

Baci, 29, became a household name in May 2023 when she cooked continuously for more than 93 hours in Lagos, surpassing the previous Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual. That feat earned her international recognition and positioned her as a leading figure in Nigeria’s culinary industry.

Her latest venture highlights not only her ambition but also the symbolic role of jollof rice, a dish regarded across West Africa as a staple of celebration and cultural pride.

The planned attempt has already generated widespread anticipation, both among her supporters in Nigeria and across the African diaspora.

Organizers say the event will be open to the public, with portions of the record-setting meal distributed to attendees after the official measurement.
