Paul Ibe, the media adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has raised concerns over what he described as the Federal Government’s silence regarding serious financial allegations levelled against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a post shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account, on Friday, the 30th of January, 2026, Ibe queried why the Presidency has yet to address claims that a substantial sum is allegedly being withdrawn monthly from the Federation Account without the approval of relevant legislative bodies.
The allegation, according to Ibe, was originally made by former Kaduna State Governor and African Democratic Congress (ADC) stalwart, Nasir El-Rufai.
El-Rufai had claimed that about N100 billion is being taken from the Federation Account every month without appropriation by either the National Assembly or the various State Houses of Assembly.
Highlighting the issue in his post, Ibe wrote: “When is President Bola Tinubu @officialABAT and his administration going to respond to the allegation by @elrufai, former Kaduna State Governor and chieftain of the @ADCNig that Tinubu caused the withdrawal of N100 billion monthly from the Federation Account without appropriation of the NASS and State Assemblies?”

He went further to stress the gravity of the allegation, describing the purported action as a violation of the Constitution. According to him, “By the way, the action is unconstitutional and amounts to an impeachable offence.”
Ibe also questioned whether the President’s absence from the country might be responsible for the lack of response from the Presidency. In another remark, he added: “Or we may have to wait until his return from Turkey, at which date we cannot even hazard a guess?”
As of the time of this post, the Presidency had not issued any official statement responding to the allegation.
