INEC Alerts Nigerians on Fake Job Advert, Warns Against Scam Website

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has alerted Nigerians to ignore a false recruitment advert currently spreading across social media platforms.

In a statement posted on its verified X account on Wednesday, September 17, the commission clarified that it is not conducting any hiring exercise.

According to INEC, the fraudulent notice is designed to mislead the public, claiming that the commission is recruiting for different roles and directing unsuspecting applicants to a fake website, inecrecruitment.com.

“The impostor behind this illicit recruitment exercise also asked would-be respondents to log on to an equally fake portal – inecrecruitment.com to complete their applications.

“But INEC does not have any such portal,” the statement read.

The commission strongly advised Nigerians to disregard the message, warning that it was the handiwork of fraudsters seeking to exploit citizens.

“The commission hereby calls on the public to disregard this fraudulent call for applications. The commission IS NOT recruiting. Do not fall victim to the antics of criminal elements,” it added.

INEC further urged citizens to rely only on its official communication channels for credible information about its activities.
