The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced its 2026 recruitment exercise, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for entry-level vacancies across various departments as part of efforts to strengthen its workforce ahead of future electoral activities.
According to the commission, the online application portal opened on Monday, July 20, and will remain accessible until Tuesday, July 27.
INEC said the recruitment is designed to boost its institutional capacity in key areas including electoral administration, voter registration, election logistics and data management to improve the delivery of its constitutional responsibilities.
The available vacancies span Grade Levels 07, 08, 09, 10 and 12, covering professional, administrative and executive officer cadres.
For the professional cadre, the commission is recruiting accountants, lawyers, engineers, ICT officers, clinical officers and quantity surveyors. Applicants are expected to possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification, relevant professional certifications where applicable, at least two years of post-qualification experience and an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.

The commission is also seeking Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officers) on Grade Level 08. Candidates for the role must possess a bachelor’s degree, Higher National Diploma or equivalent qualification in the Social Sciences, Humanities or Sciences, alongside good knowledge of data management, record keeping and ICT applications.
For the Executive Officer (Registration Officer) position on Grade Level 07, applicants are required to hold a National Certificate in Education or its equivalent, with proficiency in computer operations, communication and organisational skills.
INEC stated that applicants must not be older than 35 years, must be physically and mentally fit, possess a valid certificate of state of origin, have no criminal conviction and be willing to serve in any part of the country.
The commission also emphasised that the recruitment process is completely free, warning applicants against submitting false information or forged documents, noting that anyone found culpable would be disqualified and could face prosecution.
Interested candidates are required to complete their applications online by creating an account on the INEC recruitment portal, uploading the required credentials and submitting their applications before the closing date.
INEC added that applicants can only select one vacancy during the exercise and that only shortlisted candidates will proceed to the next stage of the recruitment process.
