INEC Urges Nigerians to Verify Details as Voters Register Display Begins Dec. 15

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has called on Nigerians to take part in the upcoming public display of the Preliminary Register of Voters, urging citizens to verify their details and help strengthen the accuracy of the voter roll.

In a statement released on Friday, December 12, the Commission announced that the display exercise will run from December 15 to 21, 2025, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily at all INEC Local Government Area offices across the country.

Under the theme “Your Name, Your Voice, Your Power,” INEC encouraged individuals who have recently registered, transferred their voting location, or updated their details to visit their local offices to confirm their information on the voter register.

The Commission urged citizens to file a claim if their names are missing, details are misspelled, or any personal data appears incomplete.

It also called on the public to file an objection if they notice any ineligible entries, including non-citizens, minors, deceased persons, or those legally incapacitated.

Reaffirming its commitment to credible elections, INEC said, “Because inclusion matters. Accuracy matters. YOU matter.”

The claims and objections stage is a key phase in Nigeria’s Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) process, allowing voters to correct errors and ensure only eligible citizens are included in the final register.

INEC emphasised that public participation in the exercise is crucial to maintaining transparency, accuracy, and trust in the electoral system, while reminding citizens that “Your Name, Your Voice, Your Power” begins with verifying your voter status.
