‘Insane!’ — Elon Musk Slams Judge’s Ruling Blocking DOGE from Treasury Records

Elon Musk, the leader of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has fiercely criticized a federal judge’s ruling that prevents his team from accessing certain government systems, calling it “absolutely insane.”

Reports indicate that US District Judge Paul Engelmayer issued the ruling after a coalition of attorneys general filed a lawsuit against Musk’s DOGE on the 7th of February, 2025.

Their argument? That the presidential commission lacks the authority to access the US Department of Treasury’s systems.

Musk, never one to shy away from controversy, took to his X account on the 8th of February to condemn the decision:

“This ruling is absolutely insane! How on Earth are we supposed to stop fraud and waste of taxpayer money without looking at how money is spent? That’s literally impossible!
Something super shady is going to protect scammers.”

Musk’s DOGE initiative was backed by President Donald Trump as part of a sweeping effort to slash government costs across various agencies—including the US Treasury Department and USAID.

In a bold move just days ago, DOGE dismantled USAID, with the restructuring leaving only about 600 of its 10,000-plus global staff still in place, while the rest were placed on leave.

The battle over government efficiency is heating up, and Musk is making it clear he won’t back down.
