Iranian authorities have confirmed receiving an official response from the United States to Tehran’s proposal aimed at ending the ongoing Middle East conflict, state media reported on Wednesday.
Iranian government spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani said the response was presented to President Masoud Pezeshkian by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi during a cabinet meeting.
“At today’s cabinet meeting, the American side’s proposal was presented to President Masoud Pezeshkian by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi,” Mohajerani told the official IRNA news agency.
She did not disclose the contents of the American response.
The development comes days after US President Donald Trump publicly rejected aspects of Iran’s proposal, which was presented through mediators as part of renewed diplomatic efforts to end the seven-month conflict between Washington and Tehran.
The proposal includes conditions linked to the reopening of the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a vital global route for oil and gas shipments.
Iran has said the reopening of the waterway would depend on Washington meeting its conditions, including ending the US naval blockade, easing sanctions affecting Iranian oil exports and unfreezing Iranian assets held abroad.
Tehran has also called for a ceasefire covering the wider region, including Lebanon, where Hezbollah has been involved in fighting with Israeli forces.
The latest exchange follows renewed indirect talks between Iran and the United States on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Qatar has been facilitating communication between the two sides as part of efforts to bridge their differences and establish a framework for negotiations. Iranian officials had previously said they were awaiting a formal response from Washington through the mediators after Trump publicly rejected the proposal.
The Strait of Hormuz has remained central to the conflict. Iran has restricted passage through the waterway since the fighting began, while the United States has imposed measures affecting Iranian ports and shipping.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has also said it has been targeting small vessels attempting to pass through the strait.
The conflict has had wider economic implications because the waterway is a major route for global energy shipments.
Meanwhile, the United States has continued to impose economic sanctions on Iran, including measures targeting Iranian airlines and foreign entities accused of supporting them.
The contents of the latest US response have not yet been made public, leaving the next steps in the diplomatic process unclear.
The latest communication between Washington and Tehran comes as Qatar and other mediators continue efforts to prevent a further escalation and secure an agreement addressing the conflict and the dispute over the Strait of Hormuz.
