Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has formally declared his intention to contest the Oyo State governorship election in 2027, citing his experience in previous campaigns as preparation for the role.
Adelabu made the announcement during separate meetings with leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogbomoso and Oyo zones, part of his ongoing statewide consultations.
The minister, who was the APC governorship candidate in 2019 and contested again under the Accord Party in 2023, said he is committed to reclaiming the state’s top seat through the APC.
“I have learned valuable lessons from my previous experiences, and I believe it is now my turn to govern Oyo State,” Adelabu said.
“This time, I am more experienced, better prepared, and determined to deliver good governance.”
He urged party members to unite and avoid internal conflicts that could undermine the APC’s chances ahead of the 2027 polls.

Adelabu also warned against the imposition of candidates, stressing that only a fair and transparent process could guarantee victory for the party.
The minister pledged that, if elected, his administration would be inclusive, focusing on education, infrastructure, youth empowerment, and economic growth.
Adelabu’s declaration marks the start of his third bid for the Oyo governorship, as he intensifies consultations across the state’s political zones.
