Nigerian social media influencer James Brown has spoken out after sharing videos alleging that he was almost assaulted by a group of young men, saying people often mistake femininity for weakness.
Brown made the remarks in a video posted on his Instagram page on Wednesday, where he reflected on the incident and condemned what he described as disrespect directed at him while attempting to resolve an issue involving members of his team.
“They see a feminine person and immediately think, ‘Easy target.’ That’s where they get it wrong,” he said.
“The biggest mistake you can make is confusing femininity with weakness. Looking soft doesn’t mean I break easily. Smiling doesn’t mean I’m scared. Being graceful doesn’t mean I won’t defend my dignity.”
According to the influencer, the confrontation escalated after an individual allegedly abandoned the issue under discussion and instead began attacking his identity.
“This video happened because someone thought disrespect was free. While I was trying to settle an issue involving my team, he stopped talking about the matter and started attacking my identity instead,” Brown stated.
He stressed that while people are entitled to their opinions, everyone deserves respect.

“You don’t have to like me. You don’t have to understand me. But you will respect me,” he said.
Brown also reflected on the criticism he has faced over the years, saying the insults had only strengthened his resolve.
“I’ve been called every name in the book, yet I’m still here. Every insult became fuel. Every attempt to break me became another reason I refused to disappear,” he added.
In a follow-up post shared on the same day, Brown uploaded another video which he described as footage showing the moments before the confrontation intensified.
Captioning the post, he wrote: “This is the older video that 10 boys almost beat me up. If not that I was fast and flexible. As I am talking to you, I am passing through pain in my eye. More videos coming.”
The videos showed a group of young men confronting the influencer, with some appearing to attempt to physically attack him before the situation escalated.
As of the time of filing this report, the circumstances surrounding the incident had not been independently verified, while no official statement had been issued by the police regarding the alleged assault.
