The Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has begun distributing uniforms and travel bags to intending pilgrims ahead of the 2026 Hajj exercise.
The exercise was officially launched on Thursday at the board’s headquarters in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, where the Director-General, Umar Labbo, described the initiative as a key milestone in preparations for the pilgrimage.
“This distribution ceremony marks a significant step in the lead-up to this year’s Hajj pilgrimage,” Labbo said during the flag-off.
About 1,000 pilgrims from the state are expected to participate in this year’s Hajj, with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria scheduling May 3, 2026, for the commencement of airlifting Nigerian pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.
Labbo explained that the distribution forms part of broader preparations by the board, noting that additional materials such as identification tags and an informational guide on Hajj operations are also being issued.
“The Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board is working to ensure a smooth and successful Hajj experience for all pilgrims,” he stated.
Providing details of the items, he said male pilgrims would receive 12 yards of fabric for uniforms along with two luggage bags, while female pilgrims would be given a wrapper, three and a half yards of material for hijab, and two bags.

He further disclosed that visa processing for all intending pilgrims from the state has been completed and urged them to strictly comply with Saudi Arabian regulations to ensure a smooth pilgrimage.
“The board has completed the processing of Hajj visas for its pilgrims,” he added.
Labbo also stressed the need for pilgrims to acquaint themselves with the guidelines governing the exercise and to promptly collect their distributed items as part of final preparations.
“Pilgrims are expected to adhere to the guidelines and instructions provided by the board and Saudi authorities.”
He noted that the board’s ongoing efforts are aimed at ensuring a seamless and comfortable experience for participants.
The distribution event was attended by board officials, prospective pilgrims, religious leaders, and other stakeholders.
