The National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, on Monday called on Nigerians to rally behind the party, urging citizens to actively participate in rebuilding the country.
In a statement, Dickson expressed appreciation for the growing support the party has received nationwide, describing public trust as the driving force behind the NDC’s steady rise.
He said the party is witnessing a “powerful convergence” of experienced political figures and grassroots leaders, positioning it as a formidable platform in Nigeria’s political space.
According to him, the NDC is being developed as a strong ideological party with structures that can endure beyond its founders, drawing comparisons with global institutions such as the African National Congress.
Dickson added that the party prioritises youth and women inclusion, mentorship and leadership development, noting that it is designed to serve both ordinary citizens and the vulnerable.
Addressing concerns about the party’s registration, he clarified that the NDC’s formation process dates back to 2017, when it initially secured approval before being stalled, adding that the process was later revisited and updated.

He also cautioned against misinformation and political attacks, urging Nigerians to ignore propaganda targeted at discrediting the party and its leadership.
Background
The development comes after two prominent political figures, Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, officially joined the NDC on Sunday, a move widely seen as boosting the party’s national profile ahead of future elections.
Their entry into the party has intensified political realignments and reinforced the coalition of opposition leaders converging under the NDC platform.
Dickson called on citizens to join the party, register and contest elections, stressing that collective participation is key to national transformation.
He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to building a stable and inclusive political platform capable of restoring confidence in governance.
