The Kaduna State Government says its school feeding initiative is improving the welfare of pupils in public boarding schools while easing the financial burden on their families.
The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Uba Sani on the School Feeding Programme, Hajiya Fauziyah Buhari-Ado, stated this on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at a free medical outreach in Manchok, Kaura Local Government Area.
The outreach, organized by the Bantex Memorial Foundation in partnership with the Second Chance Humanitarian Aid Foundation, provided hundreds of residents with free consultations, laboratory tests and treatment for conditions including cancer, eye diseases and hepatitis.
Buhari-Ado said five public boarding schools in Kaura were covered by the state’s feeding programme, with the government paying for meals and approved school charges.
She urged parents to maintain healthy feeding practices during the holidays to ensure that pupils return to school healthy and ready to learn.

The governor’s aide commended the Bantex Memorial Foundation for sustaining annual humanitarian interventions in memory of the late Bala Bantex, a former Deputy Governor of Kaduna State.
She said the outreach complemented government efforts in healthcare, education and social welfare, adding that stronger partnerships with humanitarian organizations would help extend essential services to underserved communities.
Buhari-Ado also acknowledged the involvement of traditional rulers, community leaders and residents in grassroots initiatives.
The latest intervention comes against the backdrop of Kaduna’s broader education reforms. The state introduced its free school feeding programme for public primary school pupils in January 2016 to encourage school participation and reduce the cost burden on families.
The Second Chance Humanitarian Aid Foundation also conducted a free medical outreach in Kaura in July 2023, underscoring the continuing role of community-based partnerships in extending basic healthcare to residents.
The initiatives reflect growing efforts to link education, nutrition and healthcare in improving the welfare of children and vulnerable families across Kaduna State.
