Kalu Aja to Tinubu: Why Not Holiday in Nigeria?

Financial advisor and public educator, Kalu Aja, has challenged President Bola Tinubu to set a leadership example by spending his vacation within Nigeria instead of traveling overseas.

“Why can’t the President set an example and holiday in Nigeria?,” Aja wrote on his X account.

His comment followed the Presidency’s announcement that Tinubu had left Abuja for a 10-day working vacation in Europe as part of his 2025 annual leave.

A statement issued by the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, explained that the President would divide his holiday between France and the United Kingdom.

Tinubu is expected back in the country at the end of the vacation.

Meanwhile, the development has sparked reactions from sections of the public. Some Nigerians criticised what they described as an “excessive foreign travel culture,” alleging that the President has already spent close to a quarter of his tenure outside the country.
