Senator Orji Uzor Kalu (APC‑Abia North) has vowed to use his political influence to ensure the All Progressives Congress (APC) wins Abia State in the 2027 elections.
Kalu made the declaration on January 1, 2026, during his annual New Year visit to Chief Stanley Okoro‑Emegha, APC Chairman in Ebonyi State, at Ekoli, Edda Local Government Area.
He said he would deploy all his resources to wrest power from the ruling Labour Party in Abia.
“I will support President Bola Tinubu and the APC gubernatorial candidate in the elections. I will put my heart on the field to ensure that the APC wins landslide in Abia at the election,” Kalu said.
The former governor emphasised that his personal friendship with Governor Alex Otti would not affect political competition.

He also urged state leaders across the country to prioritise security, citing his own administration as a period of relative peace in Abia.
The APC is intensifying efforts to strengthen its presence in the South East ahead of the 2027 polls, with party stakeholders vowing to reclaim Abia’s political landscape and secure both presidential and gubernatorial victories.
