The Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has announced scheduled daily eight-hour power outages affecting two major 330kV transmission lines serving its franchise area in Kano, Jigawa and Katsina states.
In a public notice issued Friday, February 20, 2026, the distribution company said the Mando–Kumbotso 330kV transmission line will undergo planned outages from January 17, 2026, to April 17, 2026 — a three-month maintenance window.
KEDCO also disclosed that the Shiroro–Mando 330kV transmission line will be affected from January 17, 2026, to February 17, 2026.

The company said the interruptions, lasting up to eight hours daily throughout the specified periods, are to enable maintenance and upgrade works on the affected transmission infrastructure.
Customers supplied through the impacted lines were advised to make necessary arrangements to manage the temporary disruptions.
KEDCO added that load management measures and alternative supply routes would be deployed in some areas to reduce the impact, noting that not all locations would experience complete blackouts simultaneously.
The company apologised for the inconvenience and said the exercise is aimed at strengthening network stability and improving long-term reliability of electricity supply across its coverage area.
