The petitioners highlighted the importance of maintaining religious peace. According to the Committee of Sunnah Preachers, their main objective is to “protect the sanctity of the Prophet’s name,” while Safiyatul Islam of Nigeria emphasized that freedom of expression should be practiced “within the bounds of respect for faith and values.”
The Shura Council, recognized for its role in resolving religious disputes, will advise the government on the best way forward.
