The Kano State Police Command has launched disciplinary action against five officers captured in a viral video helping a politician distribute money to members of the public.
The command, in a statement issued by its spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, clarified that the incident was unrelated to the re-run and by-elections held in the state on August 16, contrary to speculation.
Investigations revealed that the incident occurred on July 10, 2025, at the Coronation Hall of the Kano State Government House, shortly after an official ceremony. The officers, deployed for security duties at the venue, were said to have acted in an “unprofessional manner.”
