The Kano State Government has inaugurated a Committee on the Review of Qualifying Examinations as part of efforts to strengthen and enhance standards in the state’s education sector.
The committee was inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Ibrahim, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Research, Evaluation and Political Affairs Directorate in the SSG’s office.
A statement issued on Friday by the Press Secretary, SSG’s Office, Musa Muhammad, said the decision to constitute the committee was in line with the administration’s resolve to reform and consolidate gains achieved in the education sector.
Ibrahim explained that reviewing the qualifying examination process had become necessary to ensure efficiency, fairness, and improved student performance across secondary schools in the state.
He said the committee’s mandate includes examining existing structures and procedures guiding the conduct of qualifying examinations, assessing the adequacy of logistics and personnel, and identifying areas requiring improvement for better outcomes.

The committee, chaired by the Special Adviser on Corporate Social Responsibility, has members drawn from the Ministry of Education, Kano Educational Resource Department, Kano State Science and Technical Schools Board, and the Senior Secondary Schools Management Board.
Muhammad Yusuf, Under Secretary, Cabinet Office, will serve as Secretary, while Jamilu Usman, Assistant Secretary II, Cabinet Office, is the Co-Secretary.
The committee has four weeks to submit its report.
According to the statement, the inauguration reflects Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s commitment to revitalising education and sustaining Kano’s record of excellence in both internal and external examinations.
