A peace agreement has been reached between community leaders in Musawa Local Government Area of Katsina State and bandit groups under the State Government’s Operation Safe Corridor initiative.
The dialogue, which held on Sunday at Tashar Mai Alewa Primary School in Danmusa LGA, was facilitated to promote reconciliation and lasting peace in the troubled area.
This is contained in a statement by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, on Monday.
Leading the Musawa delegation were the Council Chairman, the District Head, and other community stakeholders, while the bandits were represented by Ummaru Munore and Wada Turawa, through their mediator, Ardo Abdulkarim Yantumaki.

According to the communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, both parties resolved to work towards peaceful coexistence, secure the release of kidnapped and detained individuals, and uphold justice and order within the communities.
Speakers from both sides pledged to honour the accord, stressing their commitment to ending hostilities and sustaining peace in Musawa and its environs.
The meeting, which lasted from 2:00 p.m. to 3:40 p.m., ended without incident. Security agencies have since stepped up patrols and monitoring efforts to reinforce the progress made during the dialogue.
