The development was disclosed in a statement released on Monday through the official X (formerly Twitter) handle of the Kebbi State Government.

According to the statement, the decision was taken to support civil servants and other government employees as they make preparations for the festive period marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

“The Governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), has approved the immediate payment of March 2026 salaries to all state government workers,” the statement read.

The early salary payment is expected to provide financial relief for workers during the festive season, allowing families to meet essential needs and participate in the celebrations with greater ease.

In recent years, several state governments have adopted similar measures during major religious festivals as a way of easing financial pressure on public sector employees and boosting economic activity within their communities.

Other states that have reportedly implemented early salary payments ahead of the celebrations include Zamfara State, Kano State and Kogi State.

Eid al-Fitr is one of the most significant celebrations in the Islamic calendar, marking the end of Ramadan, a month of fasting, prayer and reflection observed by Muslims worldwide.
