Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has endorsed the selection of Alhaji Sanusi Mika’ilu Sami as the Emir of Zuru.
The formal letter confirming the decision was delivered to him in Zuru on Thursday, the 28th of August, 2025, by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Garba Umar Dutsin-Mari, who represented the state government.
According to the Commissioner, the choice followed the outcome of the Emirate’s selection process.
Out of three contenders screened by the committee, Sanusi Mika’ilu Sami received the majority support required to emerge as the new traditional ruler.

The development comes after the death of the former Emir, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Sami Gomo II, who passed away on August 16, 2025, in a hospital in London.
Dutsin-Mari expressed appreciation to Governor Idris for ratifying the decision and called on the new Emir to live up to expectations.
In a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Malam Ahmed Idris, the Commissioner further urged the monarch to serve with integrity and a deep sense of accountability to God.
