Keyamo Orders Priority Boarding for Military Personnel on All Nigerian Flights

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has directed all domestic airlines in Nigeria to accord serving military personnel priority boarding ahead of first and business class passengers.

Keyamo made the announcement on Tuesday in Abuja during a stakeholders’ meeting focused on preparations for Nigeria’s aviation centenary celebration and the inaugural Nigerian International Air Show slated for December 2–4, 2025.

According to the minister, the new policy is a gesture of appreciation for the dedication and sacrifices of members of the Nigerian Armed Forces.

“This is what is done in other countries, and it is not a bad thing to emulate,” Keyamo said. “It is the least we can do to recognise our serving military personnel.”

The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Ibrahim Kana, described the directive as a “brilliant and symbolic” move that reflects national gratitude.

He added that the order would be forwarded immediately to the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for implementation across all local carriers.

Kana noted that the initiative will serve as a visible expression of respect and recognition for the country’s uniformed men and women.

Earlier in April, Air Peace, Nigeria’s flag carrier, had introduced a boarding policy prioritising military personnel, passengers with special needs, and business class travellers—an approach now set to become standard across all Nigerian airlines.

The aviation minister’s directive marks another effort by the federal government to honour members of the armed forces who risk their lives in service to the nation.
