The Kogi State Police Command has arrested a 21-year-old housewife, Maryam Muntari, for allegedly stabbing her neighbour, Ahmed Isah (popularly known as Kalo), to death during an alleged attempted rape at Idoji-Okene community in Okene Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP William Aya, confirmed the arrest in a statement, disclosing that the incident occurred at about 5:30 a.m. on Thursday in Idoji quarters, Okene.
According to Aya, “One Ahmed Isah, also known as Kalo, was stabbed to death on the neck in his room by one Maryam Muntari, aged 21, of Idoji-Okene. The suspect has been arrested, and investigation is ongoing while the corpse has been deposited at the Reference Hospital for autopsy.”
Reports from the community indicate that the suspect is a nursing mother and the wife of a man who has long been a neighbour and political acquaintance of the deceased.

Eyewitnesses told reporters that a distress scream from Kalo’s compound in the early hours of the morning attracted neighbours, who later discovered his lifeless body on the bed in a pool of blood.
Local sources further revealed that Kalo met Maryam earlier that morning at a water-fetching point and requested her assistance in carrying a jerrycan of water to his house, to which she obliged. However, upon reaching his house, Kalo allegedly locked the main door of his room while Maryam was dropping the water in one of the rooms, leading to a confrontation that reportedly turned fatal.
The Kogi State Police Command has assured the public that a thorough investigation is ongoing and that the suspect remains in custody pending further inquiries.
