Former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his victory in the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
Kwankwaso, in a statement posted on his Facebook page on Sunday, described Adeleke as his friend and commended the people of Osun State for exercising their democratic rights.
He said the election outcome reaffirmed the power of the people’s mandate and demonstrated that citizens’ voices could prevail when they actively participate in the democratic process.
“I congratulate my friend, His Excellency, Senator Ademola Adeleke, Governor of Osun State and candidate of the Accord Party, on his victory in the 15 August 2026 Osun State Governorship Election,” Kwankwaso said.
“As a leader of the opposition and a committed democrat, I commend the people of Osun State for exercising their democratic rights and reaffirming the power of the people’s mandate.

“This victory is a reminder that when citizens remain committed to their civic responsibilities and make their voices heard, the people’s will must prevail.”
Kwankwaso also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission for its conduct of the election, urging all stakeholders to continue supporting credible, peaceful and transparent electoral processes.
“I also commend the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the conduct of the election and encourage all stakeholders to continue to uphold the principles of credible, peaceful and transparent elections,” he added.
The former Kano governor concluded by congratulating Adeleke and the people of Osun State on the outcome of the poll.
