Former Kano State Governor and National Democratic Congress (NDC) leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has disclosed that he hosted former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, at his Abuja residence following the latter’s return from an international trip.
Kwankwaso, in a statement shared on Saturday, described Obi as a brother and partner, noting that their meeting provided an opportunity to discuss critical partisan and national issues affecting the country.
According to him, the discussions were frank, constructive, and focused on matters of mutual concern as political leaders continue to seek solutions to Nigeria’s challenges.
The former governor also used the occasion to dismiss suggestions of disunity within the NDC, insisting that the party remains united and committed to its objectives.
“Our party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), remains strongly united. As leaders, we must continue to demonstrate maturity by making the necessary sacrifices and tolerating our differences in pursuit of our shared goal,” Kwankwaso said.

He stressed the need for political leaders to place national interest above personal differences, adding that cooperation and understanding among stakeholders would be crucial to achieving meaningful progress.
Kwankwaso further expressed optimism about the future of the country, reaffirming the commitment of the party’s leadership to work together toward national development.
“We are resolute in this mission, and together, we shall ensure that Nigeria is OK,” he added.
The meeting between the two prominent opposition figures is expected to fuel political discussions ahead of future electoral contests, with observers closely watching developments within the country’s opposition landscape.
