Kwankwaso Mourns Ex-Bauchi Deputy Governor Baba Tela Over Death Of Two Children

The vice-presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has sympathised with former Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Baba Tela, over the tragic death of his two children, Mustapha and Ummi, in a fatal road accident.

Kwankwaso conveyed his condolences in a statement shared on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, describing the incident as a heartbreaking tragedy that has plunged the Tela family and the people of Bauchi State into mourning.

“I extend my deepest condolences to the former Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Baba Tela, on the tragic loss of his children, Mustapha and Ummi, in a fatal road crash,” he wrote.

The former Kano State governor said the tragedy had cast a heavy shadow over the Katagum Emirate and the entire Bauchi State.

“This heartbreaking incident has cast a heavy shadow of sorrow over the Katagum Emirate and the entire Bauchi State,” he stated.

Kwankwaso prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and asked Allah to grant the bereaved family the strength and patience to bear the painful loss.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family, the government, and the good people of Bauchi State at this difficult time.

May Allah (SWT) forgive the shortcomings of the departed, grant them Aljannatul Firdaus, and give the family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” he added.

Mustapha and Ummi lost their lives in a road accident along the Bauchi–Azare Road on Saturday while returning from Azare.

The tragedy has continued to attract condolences from prominent Nigerians.

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed had earlier expressed sympathy to Senator Tela and his family, praying for the peaceful repose of the deceased and urging the family to find solace in the will of Almighty Allah.

The governor also sympathised with other victims who sustained injuries in the crash and prayed for their quick recovery.

Similarly, former Senate President Bukola Saraki described the incident as painful, praying for Allah’s mercy upon the deceased and for the bereaved family to be granted the strength to cope with the devastating loss.
