Kwankwaso Welcomes Obi, Makinde, Dickson For Sallah In Kano

The National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, welcomed key opposition figures to his Kano residence for Sallah festivities.

Among the distinguished guests were Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate who is now with the African Democratic Congress (ADC); Seyi Makinde, Governor of Oyo State and member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); and former Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Seriake Dickson, of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Kwankwaso shared snapshots of the gathering on his verified X account on Sunday, describing the occasion as a time of joy. “Delighted to host Their Excellencies, Peter Obi, Seyi Makinde, and Seriake Dickson at my Kano residence for this joyful Sallah celebration. Wishing everyone peace, blessings, and prosperity,” he wrote.

The meeting comes amid growing speculation about potential opposition realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections. Earlier this year, in February 2026, Kwankwaso held a private meeting with Governor Makinde in Ibadan, a discussion that also sparked talk of possible alliances to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
