Kwara Approves Multi-Billion-Naira Projects, Launches Smart City Initiative

The Kwara State Government has approved several multi-billion-naira projects aimed at improving infrastructure across the state and has launched the Ilorin Smart City project, a major urban development initiative.

The Ilorin Smart City project will cover 20,000 hectares in the southern and eastern areas of the state capital and is expected to accommodate approximately 540,000 residents.

The development will include a central business district, technology park, smart transportation system, green energy solutions, digital governance platforms, healthcare and education facilities, and integrated security systems.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq said the initiative is designed to modernize Ilorin, stimulate economic growth, and provide opportunities for entrepreneurship and innovation.

The government has assured affected communities that concerns will be addressed fairly and that compensation will be provided.

Over N569 million has already been disbursed to landowners during the first phase of land acquisition.

In addition to the Smart City project, the state has approved other multi-billion-naira projects targeting education, healthcare, transportation, and housing, aimed at improving living standards and fostering economic development.
