Kwara Clears 2025 Promotion For Civil Servants

The Kwara State Government has approved the implementation of the 2025 promotion exercise for mainstream civil servants and the 2024 and 2025 exercises for workers in agencies, parastatals and media houses.

The approval, contained in a memo issued on Thursday, September 10, 2026, by the Acting Head of Service, Dr Olufunke Shittu, takes effect from September 1, 2026.

Shittu said the decision followed the completion of the required processes by the State Civil Service Commission and affected establishments, with the approval of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

She added that the financial benefits arising from the 2025 promotion of mainstream civil servants would take effect from September 1.

According to Shittu, the measure is aimed at strengthening workers’ welfare, career progression and productivity across the state public service.

The approval comes amid other workforce reforms by the administration, including the introduction of computer-based promotion examinations in May 2026 to replace the paper-based system.

The state also approved cash backing for the 2025 promotion exercise for eligible teaching and non-teaching staff under the Teaching Service Commission, as well as a 30 per cent peculiar allowance for workers in agencies, parastatals and media houses, effective June 1, 2026.

Shittu commended the government for its continued commitment to workers’ welfare and professional development.
