Lagos, Computer Village Traders Begin Talks on Relocation to Katangowa

The Lagos State Government has begun consultations with traders at the Computer Village in Ikeja over plans to relocate the market to the Katangowa ICT and Business Park in Agbado-Oke Odo.

The engagement, held on Monday, September 22, 2025, is part of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s urban renewal strategy aimed at decongesting commercial hubs and improving infrastructure across the state.

Permanent Secretary of the Office of Urban Development, Arc. Gbolahan Oki, who represented the government at the meeting, said the directive came directly from the governor to ensure transparency and inclusiveness in the relocation process.

The Katangowa ICT and Business Park is planned to host facilities such as banking halls, hotels, recreation centres, car parks, a fire station, a police post, and improved road networks.

Officials say the project will provide a more organised business environment compared with the current Ikeja site, which was originally designated as residential.

Leader of the market, Chief (Mrs.) Abisola Azeez, the Iyaloja of Computer Village, welcomed the plan, noting that the new site would expand the market’s capacity and improve conditions for traders and customers.

The government also urged traders to desist from conducting business on roadways and drainage setbacks in Ikeja, warning that such practices contravene planning regulations and worsen congestion.

The relocation, long under consideration, is expected to reshape Lagos’ ICT trade hub and align with the state’s long-term development agenda.
