The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation has announced a comprehensive traffic management plan ahead of the commencement of Phase I reconstruction and expansion of Ogunnusi Road in Ikeja Local Government Area.
In a statement issued on Sunday, March 1, the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said the measures were put in place to enable the Federal Ministry of Works to begin work on the corridor stretching from Ojodu-Berger Bus-Stop to Mobil Filling Station Junction (Ijaye/Agege bound).
According to the statement, the project forms part of a broader plan to upgrade the 9.0-kilometre dual carriage corridor between Ojodu-Berger Bus-Stop and Mobil Filling Station Junction, both inbound and outbound.
The entire project, covering Phases I and II, is scheduled to run from March 6, 2026, through different phases until January 6, 2028.
Phase I will cover a 4.5-kilometre stretch inward from Ojodu-Berger Bus-Stop to Mobil Filling Station Junction (Ijaye/Agege bound) and is expected to commence on March 6, 2026, and be completed by February 6, 2027.
To facilitate the works, there will be no vehicular access within the designated construction zone during the period.
Motorists heading inward Ijaye/Agege through Ogunnusi Road from Ojodu-Berger will be diverted to a contraflow on the Ojodu-Berger bound carriageway for approximately one kilometre before regaining access to the main carriageway.
Alternatively, motorists may use Dr Nurudeen Olowopopo Way to connect Otunba Jobifele Way to Obafemi Awolowo Way and link Lateef Jakande Road to their destinations.
Articulated and truck drivers from the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway heading toward Agege have been advised to reroute through Ojota/Maryland to Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, access Kodesoh Street, connect Oba Akran Avenue to Guinness Roundabout, link Ogba Road to Pen Cinema and continue their journeys.

Motorists travelling from Ijaye/Agege toward Ojodu-Berger will experience through traffic but will be diverted to form a contraflow with Ijaye/Agege-bound traffic for about one kilometre upon approaching the work zone before regaining full access after the construction area.
Authorities said emergency tow vehicles would be stationed strategically along the corridor to ensure prompt incident response and smooth traffic flow throughout the construction period.
Motorists were urged to exercise patience, comply with traffic signage and cooperate with traffic management officials deployed along the corridor.
The state government had earlier announced a similar traffic management plan ahead of the reconstruction of a section of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway between Super Bus-Stop and Ilepo Bus-Stop (inbound Lagos).
The reconstruction, also to be handled by the Federal Ministry of Works, is scheduled to run from March 7 to May 30, 2026, spanning 12 weeks.
