The Lagos State Government on Tuesday commenced a clearance operation in FESTAC Town, aimed at restoring order, clearing waste, and improving environmental conditions for residents.
The exercise, carried out in collaboration with the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), and the Amuwo Odofin Local Government, is part of ongoing efforts to enhance sanitation and urban management across the state.
Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, who announced the operation via his official X (formerly Twitter) account, expressed appreciation to the newly elected Chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Government and his team for initiating the partnership.
“This is the spirit of governance we must all embrace,” Wahab said, noting that collaborative action remains crucial in addressing environmental challenges in Lagos.

He further extended an invitation to other newly elected council chairmen across the state to join hands with the Ministry of the Environment in similar initiatives, pledging government’s readiness to work with local councils for a cleaner and greater Lagos.
The clearance operation in FESTAC is part of the state government’s wider campaign to improve urban sanitation, reduce flooding, and enhance the quality of life for residents.
