Suspected Lakurawa militants have reportedly killed a police officer and three civilians during a deadly raid on Girkau community in Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The attack also left several residents injured and forced many to flee for safety.
Security analyst Bakatsine disclosed the incident on Tuesday, August 4, in a post on X, identifying the slain police officer as Hussaini Manyu.
According to Bakatsine, the attackers also killed an elderly resident, Bala Wakili, as well as a young herder who allegedly refused to surrender his cattle.
“The attackers were also said to have killed an elderly man, Bala Wakili, and a young herder who reportedly refused to hand over his cattle,” Bakatsine said.

He added that another farmer was shot while working on his farmland during the assault.
The armed men were also reported to have set ablaze a police Hilux patrol vehicle and another vehicle belonging to the Community Guard before escaping from the community.
Bakatsine further claimed that the attackers rustled an unspecified number of cattle during the operation.
The violence reportedly extended beyond the killings, as a married woman was allegedly assaulted after resisting an attempted sexual attack by the gunmen.
Reflecting on the recurring violence in affected communities, Bakatsine questioned the response to the growing insecurity.
“How many more warnings must become death notices before vulnerable communities receive the protection they deserve?,” Bakatsine wrote.
The latest attack adds to a series of deadly assaults linked to suspected Lakurawa militants in parts of northwestern Nigeria, where communities have continued to face killings, cattle rustling and other violent crimes.
Security agencies have intensified operations against the group in recent months, but attacks have persisted in several border communities across Sokoto and neighbouring states.
