LASEPA Seals Church, Hotel, Mall Over Noise Pollution In Lagos

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) on Wednesday sealed several establishments across parts of Lagos for persistent noise pollution and other environmental infractions, reinforcing the agency’s ongoing crackdown on violations of environmental regulations.

The enforcement operation targeted businesses located along Satellite Town, Ikotun–Idimu Road, Ejigbo and Egbe Road areas of the state.

Among the affected establishments were Power Exploits Ministry International, Kafe Mall, Mingles Hotel, Ojei Golden Gate and Fernando Global Products Limited.

The facilities—comprising a church, mall, hotel, bar and a shoe manufacturing company—were reportedly shut down for failing to comply with LASEPA’s environmental guidelines, particularly regulations relating to excessive noise emissions and adherence to stipulated environmental standards.

Hi Officials of the agency carried out the enforcement exercise after what authorities described as repeated warnings and monitoring of the establishments’ activities.

Speaking on the development, the General Manager of LASEPA, Babatunde Ajayi, reiterated the agency’s zero-tolerance stance on environmental violations, noting that the closures became necessary due to the persistent failure of the affected businesses to comply with regulatory directives.

Ajayi explained that noise pollution remains a significant environmental challenge, with implications for public health, safety and the general well-being of residents living around affected areas.

According to him, the agency is committed to protecting the environment and ensuring that all businesses operate within permissible environmental limits.

He urged business owners and organisations across the state to obtain the necessary environmental permits, install appropriate noise control measures and strictly adhere to environmental laws to avoid sanctions.

The agency disclosed that the enforcement action was made public in a statement shared on its official X page on Wednesday, reaffirming its commitment to continuous monitoring and enforcement across Lagos.

LASEPA further warned that individuals or organisations found violating environmental regulations would face appropriate legal consequences as part of efforts to maintain a healthy and sustainable environment in the state.
