LAUTECH Hospital Staff Get Relief as Makinde Approves Outstanding Salaries

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde officially confirmed the approval of outstanding salaries and minimum wage arrears owed to the staff of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital in Ogbomoso.

Makinde made this significant announcement on Monday, the 8th of December, 2025, during the inauguration ceremony of the hospital’s new governing board. The event took place at the Executive Chamber of the Governor’s Office in Agodi, Ibadan.

While addressing the attendees, the Governor also gave assurances regarding the looming issue of academic instability, stating that he would soon resolve the problem of LAUTECH lecturers embarking on strikes. Furthermore, he promised that the state government is committed to providing the necessary support to the board to ensure the hospital facility is fully operational.

However, Governor Makinde laid down a clear mandate to the newly inaugurated board regarding the facility’s complex in Oyo.

Makinde stated: “One request that I have before this Board is that the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital Complex, Oyo, must be totally revamped. It should be operational within 12 months.”

He stressed the urgency and importance of this goal: “So, by this time next year, we will not be going back and forth. I thought it was included in the French grant, but they came back and said no. I said okay, even if it was not included, we will take it on as a state. It is a special project for 12 months. And I will be available to provide and give any kind of support that you may require.”
