A student of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomosho, has been confirmed dead after being shot during a sign-out party in Oyo State.
The deceased, identified as Babalola Marvelous Ishola, was found lifeless by the roadside at about 5:38 p.m. on Wednesday.
This was contained in a statement quoted by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, on Thursday.
Sources said that the discovery followed a report received about a male corpse lying unattended near the road.
A team of security operatives were immediately dispatched to the scene, where the victim was identified through a search of his person.

The Dean of Student Affairs at LAUTECH also confirmed that Babalola was a student of the institution.
His body has been deposited at the morgue of the LAUTECH University Teaching Hospital for preservation.
Following the incident, the police Monitoring Unit launched a sting operation, which led to the arrest of sixteen suspects in connection with the shooting.
Police say the investigation is ongoing to unravel the circumstances behind the tragic killing.
