Makinde Appoints Wolekanle CoS, Adedayo Due Process DG

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has appointed Bashorun Akinwole, popularly known as Wolekanle, as his new Chief of Staff following the resignation of Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi from the position.

Makinde also named Mrs Aderonke Adedayo as Director-General of the state’s Due Process Office.

The appointments were announced in letters signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Musibau Babatunde, according to a statement issued in Ibadan on Monday by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju.

Akinwole, who has political experience at the grassroots level, previously served as chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission.

Adedayo, who currently holds the position of Special Adviser on General Intervention and Donor Agencies, will retain her existing responsibilities alongside her new role.

Both appointments take immediate effect. Makinde congratulated the appointees and charged them to discharge their duties with loyalty, commitment and dedication to the state.

The development comes after Ogunwuyi tendered his resignation as Chief of Staff on Monday, October 12, 2026.

In his resignation letter dated October 12, Ogunwuyi stated that his departure from the administration took effect immediately.

In the letter, Ogunwuyi expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve the state and highlighted his pride in the administration’s accomplishments.

“I respectfully write to resign my appointment as Chief of Staff to the Governor of Oyo State, with effect from today, 12th October, 2026.

“Serving the Government and the good people of Oyo State has been a great honour. It has been deeply fulfilling to be part of the exceptional team that has worked relentlessly to deliver the remarkable achievements of this administration.

“I remain immensely proud of what we have collectively accomplished in advancing the growth, development and prosperity of our dear State. As I take this decision, I do so with profound gratitude for the opportunity to serve, with confidence in the continued progress of Oyo State.

“Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest esteem and unwavering loyalty to Oyo State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the letter read.
