Makinde, Fayemi, Oyinlola Meet Obasanjo Ahead Of 2027

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has revealed that he met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Sunday as political consultations ahead of the next general election continue to gather momentum.

The meeting, held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, was attended by former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola and former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi.

Makinde disclosed the visit in a post on his verified X handle, where he also shared photographs from the meeting.

Providing details of the engagement, the governor said the discussions were centred on issues affecting the country in the lead-up to the forthcoming general election.

He wrote, “Earlier today, we visited Baba, His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, in Abeokuta. Our discussions centred on important national issues in view of the upcoming general election.”

Makinde added, “We appreciate Baba for his wise counsel at this crucial time in our nation’s history.”

The visit comes at a time when political leaders from different parties are stepping up consultations and forging new alliances ahead of the 2027 general election.
