Manchester City have reportedly been found guilty of 114 of the 115 financial-rule charges brought against them by the Premier League.
The reported verdict emerged on Friday, September 25, 2026, following a lengthy hearing by an independent commission. No sanction has been announced, while City are expected to appeal.
The Premier League has not publicly released the commission’s decision, citing the confidential nature of the proceedings. City said the process remains ongoing, with significant elements yet to be completed.
The league formally charged City in February 2023 after a four-year investigation. The allegations mainly concern the period between 2009-10 and 2017-18 and include claims involving the accuracy of financial information, payments to players and managers, UEFA financial regulations, Premier League profitability and sustainability rules, and cooperation with the investigation.

City have consistently denied the allegations.
The commission hearing began on September 16, 2024, and concluded on December 6, 2024, after 12 weeks of proceedings.
Attention now turns to sanctions and the anticipated appeal. Premier League rules allow for penalties including fines, points deductions and other sporting measures.
The case is separate from City’s 2020 UEFA dispute, when the Court of Arbitration for Sport overturned a two-season Champions League ban imposed on the club and reduced its €30m fine to €10m for failing to cooperate with UEFA’s investigation.
No Premier League punishment has been imposed in the current case, leaving the formal decision and appeal process as the next stages in the long-running dispute.
